The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has disclosed that the State Police Command is working closely with the State Judiciary to curb the recurrent cases of convicted felons regaining freedom through technical loopholes or political interference.
Speaking during an engagement with journalists, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and other stakeholders to mark the SERVICOM Week at the State Command Headquarters on Friday, CP Omolori said the Command and the Judiciary have been holding robust consultations to ensure that convicted criminals remain incarcerated in accordance with the provisions of the law.
He admitted that, it is a huge challenge for law enforcement officers to see offenders walk free after substantial human, financial, and operational resources have been expended in bringing them to justice.
He assured that the renewed synergy between the police and the judiciary is already yielding positive results, with such cases of premature releases now reducing significantly.
The Commissioner appreciated the commitment of all stakeholders who participated in the SERVICOM Week activities, pledging the Command’s continuous partnership with the public to enhance effective community policing in Bauchi State.
The highlight of the event was the formal handover of several parcels of suspected cannabis sativa intercepted by the Bauchi State Police Command to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
