Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has felicitated with Nigerians on the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary, urging citizens to reflect on the nation’s progress and rededicate themselves to unity and development.
In a goodwill message to mark the celebration on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Governor Mohammed described Nigeria’s independence as a “historic milestone” that liberated the nation from colonial rule and set it on the path of self-determination, political growth, and socio-economic advancement.
The governor acknowledged that Nigeria’s development path had faced challenges, particularly the long years of military rule, but noted that 26 years of uninterrupted democracy had begun to yield dividends of good governance.
“Though our development trajectory may not match that of some countries that gained independence around the same time, Nigeria has made significant progress in governing itself, managing diversity, and building national unity,” he said.
Governor Mohammed reiterated his administration’s resolve to sustain infrastructural development, improve security, and empower citizens economically. He also disclosed that the state had concluded arrangements for an Investment Summit billed for October 8 and 9, 2025, aimed at attracting investors to harness Bauchi’s vast potentials.
On security, the governor reaffirmed his government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through continued collaboration with security agencies, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and support peace efforts.
He further called on the people of Bauchi to embrace unity, prayer, and mutual coexistence for the progress of both the state and the country.
“Let us continue to work together in harmony, with hope in our hearts and faith in Almighty Allah, to make our state and our country greater,” the governor charged.
Governor Mohammed wished Nigerians a happy 65th Independence Anniversary celebration.
