Governor Bala Mohammed Explores Development Opportunities with Tunisia

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State, today received the Ambassador of Tunisia to Nigeria, His Excellency Mohsen Antit, along with the President of the Tunisia Consortium for African Development (TUCAD), Mr. Anis Jaziri, at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The meeting focused on forging strategic partnerships between Bauchi State and Tunisian institutions, with a particular emphasis on areas where TUCAD brings technical and commercial expertise, namely telecommunications, infrastructure, design, construction, oil and gas, energy, logistics, and water management.

Ambassador Mohsen Antit expressed Tunisia’s strong interest in enhancing subnational cooperation and described Bauchi as a state with immense potential and reform-minded leadership. He reiterated Tunisia’s willingness to build lasting ties that would promote sustainable development across key sectors.

Speaking on behalf of the Tunisia Consortium for African Development (TUCAD), Mr. Anis Jaziri outlined the consortium’s commitment to supporting African states through investment, technology transfer, and turnkey solutions in critical infrastructure and industrial sectors. He noted that Bauchi State stands to benefit from collaborative projects that can stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and improve access to essential services.

Responding, Governor Bala Mohammed welcomed the delegation, reaffirming his administration’s vision to attract credible international partners that align with Bauchi State’s development agenda.

He highlighted the state’s pressing needs in areas such as rural electrification, road infrastructure, energy access, housing, and water supply. He then expressed his optimism that a partnership with TUCAD could fast-track progress in these sectors.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from both sides to establish a joint working group that will begin detailed assessments and develop a roadmap for implementing specific initiatives in Bauchi.
