IGP Pats NCOs, Men of Bauchi State Police Command

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun Ph.D has commended Non Commission Officers (NCOs) and Men of the Bauchi State Police Command, describing them as the “foot soldiers” that are checkmating crime and criminality in the State.

IGP Egbetokun also urged them to sustain the tempo by way of demonstrating professionalism and discipline in carrying out their duties as at when required.

The IGP gave the morale booster through the Assistance Inspector General of Police (AIG) Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu on Wednesday during an official visit the Bauchi State Command Headquarters.

While speaking in his capacity as the AIG In-Charge of Zone 12 that comprises Bauchi and Gombe, AIG Aliyu stated that the welfare of officers and men of the Nigerian Police is on top on the priority lists of the IGP.

AIG Aliyu, who was on official visit of the Command under his zone, also assured men and officers of the Command that IGP Egbetokun is working assiduously to ensure that retirement benefits are not only paid on time, but working towards improving such benefits.

“The only way you can reciprocate the IG’P’s effort is by supporting him through your professional conducts in carrying out your duties in line with the laws of the land”, said AIG Aliyu.

Earlier in his welcome address, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police (CP) Sani-Omolori Aliyu mni described the visit to the Bauchi Command by AIG Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu as ‘a beacon of inspiration, offering strategic insight, renewed purpose, and a shared sense of mission in light of our evolving security landscape’.

CP Sani-Omolori said that, in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s vision to reduce crime to the barest minimum, the Bauchi State Command has adopted and implemented several strategies, including: Enhanced patrols and visibility policing, and conducting joint patrols; a focus on Community Policing through engagement with community leaders, quasi-security outfits, and the public to gather actionable intelligence;

Other strategies according to CP are; the quick response to distress calls through the deployment of standby operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and Operation Restore Peace (ORP); and Public Sensitization Programs—educating citizens on crime prevention and reporting mechanisms.

The CP disclosed that the Command has recorded zero student abductions which, according to him, “is the reflection of the impact of visibility policing and intelligence-led operations that was adopted by the Command”.

CP Sani-Omolori said that the Command is on the verge of launching the IGP’s Safe School Protection Squad, stressing that, the squad will be equipped with state-of-the-art, real-time intelligence-gathering tools and highly trained personnel dedicated to safeguarding educational institutions across the state.

“Sir, your visit today is a source of renewed strength and direction. It reaffirms your leadership’s commitment to operational excellence, and we are deeply grateful for your presence and support. On behalf of the entire Command, I pledge our unwavering loyalty to your vision and mandate. May Almighty Allah grant you the wisdom and resilience to steer Zone 12 Command to unprecedented heights of distinction”, CP Sani-Omolori prayed

Our Correspondent reports that the visit of AIG Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu also provided questions and answers sessions by both Journalists and officers and men of the Bauchi State Police Command.
