ASHH Foundation, Women for Women Commemorate 2024 IWD in Bauchi

A Bauchi based Non Profit Organization, Attah Sisters Helping Hand (ASHH) Foundation, with funding from Women for Women International has organized Two Days Stakeholders engagement to trigger commitments from Organizations and individuals on how to strengthen safe space for women to reach their full potentials.

Specifically, the 2 days activity was to engage the carefully selected key stakeholders on responsive actions to Women Peace and Security (WPS) Pillars that focuses on Participation, Prevention, Protection, Relief and Recovery as a means to promoting gender diversity in Bauchi State and beyond.


In a short welcome remarks by the BoT chairperson of ASHH Foundation Dr. Isaac Crown, he said the Foundation is committed to collaborating with stakeholders to advance WPS pillars of participation in women in decision making processes , protection of women against all forms of abuse and taking proactive measures to ensure prevention of any forms of abuse before it occurs.

Dr. Crown said that one of the goal of ASHH Foundation is to ensure that women have equal opportunities in life to enable them thrive and reach their full potentials in life.

In her message to the participants during the workshop, through phone conversation, Executive Director of ASHH Foundation Ms. Comfort Ene Attah said that forging alliance with the select group of participants was aimed to amplify the voices of women with a view to championing their course.

Attah said that such engagement will highlight issues around Women Peace and Security aimed at creating more awareness and shaping discussions that may lead to positive changes.

During the two days that the workshop lasted, the over thirty participants were taken through presentations by human rights and media experts.


Some of the presentations were centered on:  provision of safe space for women and girls under women peace and security, Responsive actions to WPS pillars, Overview of WPS within the context of gender violence and abuse and the Role of media in promoting WPS pillars among other topics.

Our correspondent reports that one of the key outcomes of the Two Days engagement exercise was commitments made by the media personalities to promote WPS issues.


The workshop attracted participants from human rights base groups, Bauchi  legislature, religious/community leaders, media, security, judiciary and other CSOs.
