Citizens Need in Budget Takes Center Stage as USAID State2State Trains State/LG officials, CSOs in Bauchi

In an effort to further strengthen citizens participation and needs in Budget processes and implementation in Bauchi State,  USAID Funded State Accountability, Transparency, and Effectiveness (State2State) Activity Bauchi field office has put together a Two Day capacity training workshop on Tracking of Community Charter of Demands (CDD) Projects captured in the 2024 budget.

Community Charter of Demand (CDD) is a document designed and developed by USAID State2State and submitted to State Government for onward distribution to communities to capture citizens’needs for possible inclusion in a proposed Budget.

The capacity training workshop is taking place at Hazibal Hotel Conference Hall between 6th – 7th February 2014.

The purpose of the training is to enhance the capacity of State MDAs,  LGA officials and CSOs to effectively track the implementation of CCD projects implementation in Bauchi State.

While giving an overview of the CDD Community Engagement and Capacity Building Specialist, Habila Salem said the training is intended to achieve certain objectives that include: Deepening of participants’ knowledge and understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of community development project implementation.

He also said that participants would be equipped with the basic tools and templates for tracking the implementation of community development projects.

Salem further revealed that it also expected that at the end of the Two Days engagement, participants will develop an action plan for tracking CCD project implementation in their communities/constituencies.

Day one of the workshop saw participants taken through presentations that borders around effective tracking of CDD projects, Tools of CDD project tracking and stakeholders roles and responsibilities in CDD projects.

At the end of Day One, participants also shared experience in tracking community development projects implementation.

Our correspondent reports that workshop attracted 30 high level targeted State, LG officials and Civil Society Organizations in the Four focused Local Government Areas of Bauchi, Alkaleri, Katagum and Misau of Bauchi State that are manning critical areas of Health, Education, WASH and Public Financial Management.
