To further strengthen and enhance uptake of quality sexual reproductive health and family planning (SRH/FH) in all the 20 LGAs of Bauchi State, Mariestopes International Nigeria Reproductive Choices (MSI) Bauchi field office, on Thursday 30th November, 2023, commenced the development of its 2024 outreach workplan.
The 2 days intensive workplan development meeting which is being conducted in the State capital with all the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Family Planning Coordinators across the 20 LGAs of Bauchi State.
Speaking shortly before the commencement of the meeting, State Social Behavioural Change Communication Officer (SBCCO) of Mariestopes Bauchi Field office, Muhammad Mubarak Abubakar said that the objective of the meeting was to provide an overview of activities of Mariestopes Organisation in delivering high quality Sexual, Reproductive Health and Family Planning (SRH/FP services in communities through various channels of communication.

Abubakar also said that other objective of the meeting will be an avenue to engage with Local Government MCH Coordinators in the identification, site selection and outreach scheduling for the year 2024.
The social and behaviour change officer (SBCCO) further disclosed that the meeting will seek to build a sustainable mobilization mechanism for successful outreach engagements championed by the MCH Coordinators which is being supported by MSI Nigeria outreach SBCCO.
While speaking on Mariestopes’ outreach channel and operating strategies, Gloria Ambayat, MSI Bauchi outreach clinical service provider reminded the participants of their key roles towards enhancing uptake of family planning services at facility level.

Ambayat encouraged the MCH Coordinators to share experiences, challenges and lessons learnt in the year under review and also proffer advice on how best MSI Nigeria can improve it’s outreach services.
Day one of the meeting highlighted areas around stakeholder ownership and sustainability, MSI expectations and roles of MCH Coordinators.
Other areas covered in day one of the meeting were focused on choosing dates for outreach services for the year 2024.
Our correspondent observed the methodology adopted by MSI was participatory through discussions and group work. Participants were also in high spirits due to excellent facilation by the resource persons.
