Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has, on Thursday 30th November presented a budget proposal of N3.2 billion for the 2024 Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly for consideration subsequent passage into law.
This followed approval of the budget by the State Executive Council during it’s extraordinary meeting held at Government House Bauchi a day earlier.
Capital expenditure got 58.8 per cent for while 41.2 percent is projected for recurrent expenditure.
The breakdown of the budget indicated that, Capital Expenditure received the highest share of about one hundred and eighty billion naira while a sum of over one hundred and twenty one billion naira is earmarked for recurrent expenditure.
Tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Renewed Hope”, Governor Bala Mohammed said Infrastructure, Health Care services, Education, Agriculture, Job Creation, and Human capital development are the priority areas.
The explained that the budget is expected to be funded by Federal Allocation, Internally Generated Revenue IGR, as well as external and internal loans pointing out that it would focus more on completion of the ongoing projects as new ones may only be created where necessary.
He solicited for the continuous support of the 10th Assembly towards formulation and implementation of policies and programmes aimed at improving the quality of lives of the citizens.
Speaking after receiving the budget, Speaker of the State Assembly Babayo Mohammed Akuyam who commended the Governor for his commitment to transform the state, assured of speedy passage of the appropriation Bill.
