The Executive Director of National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) Dr. Faisal Shuaib, is meeting with members of the Diphtheria Outbreak Operations Room, where he is being briefed on plans to implement a comprehensive and coordinated response.
The response strategy entails the deployment of Pentavalent and TD vaccines during this crucial phase.
The agency has identified 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across four states (Kaduna, Yobe, Bauchi, and Katsina) as priority areas due to their reported outbreak status.
Additionally, phase 2 states have been categorised for priority response. They are Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Bauchi, Yobe, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Contiguous LGAs in these states will also receive state-wide responses to ensure that the outbreak is effectively contained and controlled.
